‘Something is wrong and needs to be fixed’
To the Editor:
Writing for the Milton Times as a contributor, Laura Griffin covered many “hot issues” in her two articles for the Jan. 3 and Jan. 10 editions.
She talked about Town Meetings regarding the Fire Stations, the Kidder Library, town overrides, new school additions, the yacht club, and boat landing.
She even spoke about past problems and accomplishments, including racism in the schools, teenage drug and alcohol abuse, the Granite Links Golf Course, and neon signs, but not one word about the proposed and much needed and delayed construction of a new animal shelter.
It took many years of planning, talking about it, and Town Meetings to finally knock down the Hendries Building, and when they got to it, it didn’t take very long to do it.
The Animal Shelter has also been talked about for just as many years, but is still the same old, decrepit, dilapidated, and broken down building it has been for years.
It’s a disgrace to the town of Milton that the animals and volunteers have to live and work in that environment.
Brand new housing has gone up and is currently going up; restaurants have opened and been given liquor licenses; there’s new development at Milton Marketplace; but there’s still no animal shelter replacement. Something is wrong and needs to be fixed.
